What's it called? LAS FALLAS
Where is it? Valencia, Spain
When is it? March
What is it? A HUGE festival and parade of intricate costumes and papier mache heads and masks, firecrackers and fireworks, basically a week long booze up!
In Valencia, to celebrate the end of winter the locals turn the last two weeks of March into a riotous, pyromaniac, satirical celebration. Torches (fallas) shaped as grotesque versions of real or imagined characters are paraded through the streets and finally set alight - creating a scene befitting a Disney parade at the end of the world. All in the name of banishing winter for another year, how much fun is that?!
Now doesn't winding the clocks forward and losing an hours sleep seems pretty tame in comparison?
Come join us at the Four Corners as we celebrate one the world's maddest events! Were you there last year? Send us your photos and we'll make you a star of the show! Are you going this year? Come along all week and we'll hopefully give you a taster of your trip!
